FSC publishes ASI update assessment: Regulatory Module V(1-1) aligned with EUDR
FSC announced that ASI has updated its August 2025 benchmarking assessment, confirming that the FSC Regulatory Module V(1-1) is fully aligned with the EUDR; most FSC certificate holders involved in wood fall under the 30 December 2026 deadline, and the remaining gaps in core certification mostly relate to the transition of national risk assessments.
According to FSC, the EUDR applies to most operators from 30 December 2026, with a deadline of 30 June 2027 for micro and small operators, unless they were already covered by the EU Timber Regulation; the deadline for most FSC certificate holders involved in wood is therefore December this year.[1]
According to FSC, following the December 2025 EUDR revision and the May 2026 simplification, ASI updated its August 2025 benchmarking assessment, examining the alignment of FSC core certification and available tools with the EUDR.[1]
FSC stated that the assessment is an external review that benchmarks FSC against the criteria in the European Commission's EUDR guidance for assessing certification schemes, and confirms that the FSC Regulatory Module V(1-1) is fully aligned with the EUDR.[1]
According to FSC, certificate holders using the FSC Regulatory Module V(1-1) add-on module are fully aligned with the latest version of the EUDR; the revised module also incorporates EUDR simplification measures, such as the postal address option for micro and small primary operators in low-risk countries.[1]
FSC stated that the remaining gaps in core certification are mostly temporary and relate to the ongoing transition of national risk assessments; these gaps will close as updated risk assessments are progressively published on the FSC Risk Hub.[1]
