The GTI report shows divergent wood sector performance across ten pilot countries in September 2026; Brazil's index stood at 55.3%, above 50% for the third consecutive month, while the GTI-Woodbased Panel Index was 42.1%.
The ITTO-supported Global Timber Index (GTI) tracks wood sector performance in ten pilot countries across three continents. Performance in September 2026, as described in the report, was mixed, with overall improvement in Brazil and some other countries and positive production signals in some countries.[1]
Among the pilot countries, Brazil posted a reading of 55.3%, above the 50% threshold for the third consecutive month, reflecting overall expansion in its wood sector; Thailand recorded 50.4%, stabilizing after an earlier decline. The remaining eight pilot countries remained in contraction territory.[1]
The dedicated sub-indices for September showed overall contraction: the GTI-Producers Index stood at 49.4% and the GTI-Woodbased Panel Index at 42.1%.[1]
